Who we are
The Floor is the class booking site and app of The Recording Club (TRC), 1660 9th St, Santa Monica, CA 90404. Questions go to info@therecording.club.
What we collect
Name and phone number. You give these when you book or sign in. The phone number is your login and where your ticket, reminders and clips arrive.
Instagram handle, optional. It goes on the tag sheet for classes you book so the host and TRC can tag you.
Payment information. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we keep the amount, the date and the Stripe reference for each ticket.
Usage data. Our servers record requests (IP address, page, time) to run the service, stop abuse and fix problems. We keep these logs for up to 30 days.
Push device token. If you allow notifications in the iOS app, we store your device token so we can send ticket, waitlist and reminder alerts. Turning notifications off or signing out removes it.
Hosts also give an email address, a link to their work and payout details for paying them.
How we use it
To sell and check tickets, send your ticket, reminders, waitlist offers and clips, issue refunds, pay hosts, and answer you. We do not sell your information, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Who we share it with
The host of a class you book sees your name, Instagram handle and check-in status for that class.
Service providers that run parts of The Floor for us: Stripe (payments), Twilio (text messages), SendGrid (email), Apple (push notifications) and Fly.io (hosting). They use the data only to provide their service.
We disclose information when the law requires it.
Filming
Classes are filmed on the house cameras. Footage of a class is shared with the people in it and may be posted by TRC and the host. Ask staff before class if you would rather stay off camera and we will place you out of frame.
Keeping and deleting
We keep ticket and payment records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. You can delete your account in the app or on the site under My tickets, Delete account. That removes your name, phone number, handle and devices from our records and leaves only anonymous payment entries. You can also ask by email at info@therecording.club.
Children
The Floor is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you by text when a change matters for how we use your data.
